The August 24-30 cycle had a little of everything: a meaningful new transfer option, legitimately large airline-card offers, and several bonuses that reward having a real redemption in mind. The common thread is simple—flexibility is valuable, but only when it turns into a bookable trip.
Credit Card & Program News
U.S. Bank adds Avianca LifeMiles to its transfer menu
U.S. Bank added Avianca LifeMiles to the transfer partners available through the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Visa Infinite. It joins Flying Blue, Qantas Frequent Flyer, Ethiopian ShebaMiles, and Accor Live Limitless; the airline partners are the reason to care, while Accor's 2:1 ratio remains a niche use. LifeMiles is useful for Star Alliance awards, but its search results can be unreliable, so confirm the itinerary before moving a single point.
Google begins surfacing award-search information
Google Travel began adding award pricing and availability for several airline and hotel programs, including AAdvantage, Hilton Honors, Choice Privileges, and Wyndham Rewards. Better discovery is welcome, but it is not a booking guarantee: use it to find possibilities, then verify space and final pricing with the program before transferring points.
Signup Bonuses
Delta's elevated offers are worth a targeted look
The Delta SkyMiles Gold American Express Card is offering as high as 80,000 SkyMiles plus a $250 statement credit after $3,000 in spending within six months, while the Delta SkyMiles Platinum American Express Card is offering as high as 90,000 miles plus a $300 credit after $4,000. Both offers run through November 4, 2026, and the "as high as" language means applicants must check the displayed offer before accepting an approval.
For business owners who can handle the spend, the Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business Card has the headline 200,000-mile offer after $20,000 in six months through November 4. That is a lot of miles, but it is also a lot of required spend—choose it for a specific SkyMiles use and the card's benefits, not the advertising number alone.
AAdvantage Executive raises both the bonus and the price
The Citi / AAdvantage Executive World Legend Mastercard now offers 125,000 AAdvantage miles after $15,000 in purchases within five months, alongside its $695 annual fee. The bonus is substantial, but it has to offset a premium-card fee and a devalued award currency; this is a lounge-access card for a frequent American flyer, not the automatic best way to earn American miles.
Transfer Bonuses & Partners
Citi adds a 25% Leaders Club transfer bonus
Citi ThankYou Points transfer to Leaders Club with a 25% bonus through September 19, 2026. The Citi-to-Leaders Club bonus is especially worth checking for a high-end independent hotel where cash rates are painful; otherwise, a transfer from a flexible currency just to hold hotel points is backwards.
Several established bonuses remain actionable
The Capital One-to-Avianca LifeMiles bonus adds 15% through September 16, while American Express Membership Rewards transfers to British Airways Executive Club with a 30% bonus through September 27. Chase also still has a 20% Ultimate Rewards-to-Aeroplan bonus through September 30; Aeroplan cardholders who transfer at least 50,000 Chase points can stack their separate 10% card benefit. These are good tools for an already-found award seat, not a reason to invent a trip.
Airline & Hotel Deals
A targeted Lufthansa group flight credit can soften a fall booking
Some American Express cardholders can save $200 after $1,000 in Lufthansa group airfare booked through American Express Travel by October 31. This is a useful statement-credit offer only if the portal price and fare rules are competitive; do not let a coupon push you into a more expensive or less flexible ticket.
Card Curator Take
The cleanest action this week is to match an offer to an itinerary. The new Avianca option gives U.S. Bank points a more credible airline-redemption path, while the Citi-to-Leaders Club bonus can be excellent for the right luxury hotel—not every luxury hotel.
On the card side, the Delta offers are genuinely elevated, but the spend requirements separate a strong fit from a flashy distraction. Check the exact offer shown to you, verify award availability first, and use Card Curator to make the expiration dates and required spend fit your real plan.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is new with U.S. Bank transfer partners?
U.S. Bank added Avianca LifeMiles to the partner list for eligible Altitude Reserve and FlexPerks rewards. LifeMiles can be valuable for Star Alliance awards, but travelers should verify the award directly with Avianca before transferring because transfers cannot be reversed.
How long do the elevated Delta card offers last?
The current elevated Delta Gold, Platinum, Reserve, and business-card offers end November 4, 2026. The personal Gold and Platinum offers are advertised as "as high as," so the final bonus may vary and should be confirmed before submitting an application.
Is the Citi ThankYou to Leaders Club transfer bonus worth it?
Citi is offering a 25% bonus on transfers to Leaders Club through September 19, 2026. It can make sense when a specific Leaders Club hotel redemption produces strong value, but flexible ThankYou points are usually more useful until you have confirmed hotel availability and the final rate.
