Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect: your email address, name (optional), and password (encrypted).

Credit Card Portfolio Data

To provide recommendations, we store: which credit cards you have, their annual fees, bonus categories, and points/miles balances you manually enter. We never ask for or store credit card numbers, CVV codes, or banking credentials.

Usage Data

We collect: pages you visit, features you use, AI chat interactions (to improve recommendations), merchant searches, and technical information (browser type, device, IP address).

Optional Information

You may choose to provide: spending patterns by category, travel preferences, and redemption goals. This helps us provide better recommendations but is entirely optional.

How We Use Your Information
  • Provide our service: Generate AI recommendations, track points, suggest optimal cards
  • Improve our product: Analyze usage patterns to build better features
  • Communicate with you: Send important updates, respond to support requests
  • Marketing (with permission): Send helpful tips, transfer bonus alerts, new feature announcements (you can opt out anytime)
  • Security: Detect fraud, abuse, and protect our service
  • Legal compliance: Comply with laws and regulations

We do NOT sell your data

We make money through affiliate commissions when you apply for cards, not by selling your information. Your data stays with us.

How We Protect Your Data

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

  • 256-bit SSL encryption for all data transmission
  • Encrypted database storage for sensitive information
  • Secure authentication with hashed and salted passwords
  • Regular security audits and vulnerability testing
  • Limited employee access to user data on a need-to-know basis
  • Automatic session timeouts to prevent unauthorized access

However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

When We Share Information

We share your information only in these limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: Third-party services that help us operate (hosting, analytics, email). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.
  • AI providers: We use Anthropic's Claude AI for our assistant. Chat messages are processed by Anthropic under their privacy policy and data protection terms.
  • Card issuers (with your action): When you click an affiliate link to apply for a card, the issuer knows you came from Card Curator, but they don't receive your Card Curator account data.
  • Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety.
  • Business transfers: If Card Curator is acquired, your data may transfer to the new owner (you'll be notified).
