Weekly Recap: Apr 13–19 — Wells Fargo Gets Wyndham, Citi Bonus Transfers & Capital One Rebrands

A solid week for transfer partner news. Wells Fargo quietly expanded its rewards ecosystem, Citi is dangling a short-window transfer bonus to a luxury hotel partner, and Capital One reshuffled its business card lineup with some notable new welcome offers. Plenty to dig into — here's what mattered most.

Credit Card & Program News

Capital One Refreshes Business Cards with New Bonuses

Capital One rebranded several of its business card products this week, and the timing comes with upgraded welcome offers worth paying attention to. The Capital One Venture X Business is currently offering 150,000 miles after $30,000 spend in 3 months — a large hurdle, but an enormous haul of flexible miles at roughly 1.85¢ each per TPG valuations. If your business naturally spends at that level, this is one of the richer business card offers available right now. The standard Capital One Venture Rewards personal card meanwhile sits at 75,000 miles after $4,000 in 3 months for those without the business spend to qualify.

Bilt Launches Referral Program

The Bilt Blue Card now has a formal referral program, letting existing cardholders earn rewards for bringing in new members. Bilt points are among the most valuable in the game at 2.2¢ each — they transfer to a wide range of airline and hotel partners, and rent payments earn without transaction fees. If you've been sitting on a referral link, now's the time to put it to use.

Citi Business Cards Dropping Debit Payment Option in June

Starting June 1, Citi will no longer accept debit card payments toward Citi business card balances. This is a quiet but impactful change for anyone who's been routing payments through that method. If this affects your setup, now's the time to sort out an alternative payment method before the deadline.

Transfer Bonuses & Partners

Wells Fargo Adds Wyndham as Transfer Partner

This is the week's most significant rewards news: Wells Fargo Rewards now transfers to Wyndham Rewards. If you hold the Wells Fargo Autograph Journey — which earns 5x on hotels, 4x on airlines, 3x on dining and gas — you now have a direct path to Wyndham points, which cover an enormous footprint of properties from budget roadside to resort destinations. The Wells Fargo Autograph also earns Wells Fargo Rewards points. Transfer ratios and rates haven't been widely publicized yet, so watch for those details, but directionally this makes Wells Fargo's rewards ecosystem meaningfully more useful.

Citi ThankYou: 25% Transfer Bonus to Leading Hotels of the World

Through May 16, Citi ThankYou is offering a 25% bonus when you transfer points to Leading Hotels of the World (LHW). LHW properties tend to be ultra-luxury independents — the kind of places where a few extra points could unlock a genuinely exceptional stay. If you've been sitting on a stash of ThankYou points and have a high-end trip in mind, this is the window to move them. Don't wait until May 15 to check the fine print.

American Airlines eShopping Portal Bonus

AA is running a bonus promotion on its eShopping portal this week. If you have AAdvantage miles or are working toward any AA-related goal, stacking portal miles on top of card rewards is an easy win on purchases you were already planning.

Airline & Hotel Deals

SAS EuroBonus Business Class Award Sale

SAS EuroBonus is running a business class award sale this week — one of those periodic opportunities where Star Alliance metal becomes genuinely accessible at reduced rates. SAS flights offer solid transatlantic business class, and EuroBonus points can be earned via a handful of transfer partners. If you're eyeing a European trip and have the points flexibility, it's worth checking SAS award availability during this sale window.

Accor Double Points on Stays

Accor's loyalty program (ALL — Accor Live Limitless) has a double points promotion running this week. If you have any Accor stays coming up — ibis, Novotel, Sofitel, Fairmont, and a long list of others all fall under the umbrella — registering for this before your stay is a no-brainer. Accor points are valued around 2.0¢ each, so doubling your earn meaningfully shifts the math on a stay.

Southwest Companion Pass Multiplier

Southwest is running a promotion to boost points earned toward the Companion Pass, their flagship perk that lets a designated companion fly with you free (minus taxes) for the life of the pass. The Companion Pass threshold requires 135,000 Rapid Rewards points earned in a calendar year, and a multiplier on top of that makes the math considerably more achievable. If you're in a Companion Pass chase, this is the kind of promotion you register for immediately. The Southwest Priority, Southwest Premier, and Southwest Plus all count card spend toward the threshold.

More This Week

Using Credit Cards for Tax Payments

With Tax Day in the rearview mirror, it's worth noting the ongoing value of running tax payments through rewards cards. IRS payment processors charge around 1.82–1.98% in processing fees — which sounds painful until you're putting a $10,000 payment on a card offering a 60,000-point welcome bonus that requires $4,000 in spend. The math works in your favor early in a card's lifecycle, less so for routine ongoing tax payments. The key variable is what you're getting back per dollar relative to what you're paying in fees.

Card Curator Take

The Wells Fargo + Wyndham transfer partnership is the most consequential development this week. It gives existing Autograph Journey holders a new redemption lane and elevates Wells Fargo Rewards from a "solid cash back ecosystem" to a more genuinely flexible travel currency. Wyndham's network is vast — it's not glamorous, but it's useful, especially for road trips and domestic travel where Hyatt or Marriott properties don't exist.

The Citi ThankYou 25% transfer bonus to Leading Hotels is a shorter-term opportunity with a May 16 deadline — worth acting on if you have a luxury stay planned. And if you're holding Capital One Venture miles and haven't dug into their transfer partners lately, the business card refresh is a good reminder that the 75k–150k offers are legitimately competitive right now.
