Weekly Recap: Mar 2–8 — Transfer Bonus Overload, Aeroplan 85K & Robinhood's New Card
A banner week for transfer bonuses — Chase Avios, Chase Wyndham, Capital One Hotels, and a blockbuster Rove+JAL deal. Plus Aeroplan hits 85K and Robinhood enters the premium card space.
If you were paying attention this week, your points balances should look a lot healthier. Four separate transfer bonuses dropped inside seven days, headlined by a rare 50% Rove-to-JAL opportunity. Toss in a pair of elevated signup bonuses, Robinhood crashing the premium card party, and some Citi ThankYou love, and this was one of the busiest weeks of 2026 so far.
Transfer Bonuses & Partners
Chase 20% Transfer Bonus to Avios Partners
Chase Ultimate Rewards launched a 20% transfer bonus to British Airways Avios and its Oneworld partner programs (Iberia, Aer Lingus, Qatar). Avios is already one of the most versatile currencies in points, and a 20% top-up makes short-haul sweet spots — especially on American metal — significantly cheaper. If you've been sitting on a pile of UR points, this is a solid window to convert some ahead of a summer trip.
Chase 30% Transfer Bonus to Wyndham
Chase also kicked off a 30% bonus on transfers to Wyndham Rewards. At first glance Wyndham isn't the most glamorous program, but the Wyndham Rewards Earner Card and its cousins earn points that can stretch surprisingly far with the right property. The bonus makes Wyndham more competitive for domestic road warriors who want points that actually work in middle America.
Capital One 30% Transfer Bonus to Preferred Hotels
Capital One cardholders got a 30% bonus on transfers to Preferred Hotels & Resorts' iPrefer program. Preferred Hotels is often overlooked in favor of the big four chains, but it's a solid program for boutique and independent properties worldwide. If you've been eyeing a stay at an independent hotel that participates, this is a good time to move miles.
Rove + JAL MileageBank: 1:1 with 50% Bonus Through March
The headline deal of the week. The Rove travel portal integrated JAL MileageBank as a transfer partner at 1:1, and sweetened it with a 50% bonus through the end of March. JAL miles are considered some of the best in the business for premium cabin redemptions to Asia and Europe on both JAL metal and partner carriers. This is a time-sensitive opportunity — if you use Rove, move points now and redeem later. The 50% bonus expires at month's end.
Signup Bonuses
Chase Aeroplan Card at 85,000 Miles
The Aeroplan Card bumped its public offer up to 85,000 points, which is firmly in "apply now" territory. Air Canada Aeroplan has become one of the more powerful programs for booking Star Alliance partners, especially for business class to Europe and Asia Pacific. The 85K threshold covers a solid round-trip business class award with careful routing. Don't sleep on this one if you've been waiting for the right time to pull the trigger.
Citi AA Business Platinum at 75,000 Miles
The Citi AAdvantage Business Platinum card surfaced with a 75,000-mile offer, which is above average for this card. AAdvantage miles are very much back in the conversation — especially with the AA/oneworld ecosystem now that partner space has improved. Business cards also carry more lenient 5/24-style rules at most banks, so this is worth a look even if you've been card-active lately.
Bank of America Business Card Bonuses
Bank of America refreshed its business card lineup with elevated welcome offers, including a $500 cash bonus after $5,000 in spend. Not the most exciting offer in points terms, but the straightforward cash equivalent makes it easy to value — and BofA's underwriting tends to be more accessible than Chase or Amex for business applicants without a thick credit file.
Credit Card & Program News
Robinhood Platinum Card Announced
The $695-annual-fee Robinhood Platinum card made waves this week. Robinhood is positioning it as a direct Amex Platinum competitor, with roughly $3,000 in annual credits across various categories. The card is tied to the Robinhood Gold ecosystem, which already includes a high-yield savings account. It's interesting as a fintech entrant into the premium space, but the credits will need close scrutiny — most of them will be niche or heavily restricted. Worth watching, not worth rushing to apply.
Citi ThankYou Card Gets New Benefits
The Citi Thank You card received a meaningful benefits refresh this week, including 5x category bonuses and new statement credits. Citi has been steadily improving the ThankYou ecosystem, and this is a concrete signal they're serious about competing with Chase and Amex. ThankYou points are one of the most underrated transferable currencies — 1.9¢ TPG valuation with partners like Turkish Miles&Smiles, Avianca LifeMiles, and Virgin Atlantic.
AA Loyalty Points Bonus
American Airlines ran a Loyalty Points bonus promotion, offering multipliers on select purchases. Loyalty Points are the metric AA uses for AAdvantage status qualification, so any accelerator is meaningful for those in active status runs. If you're targeting Platinum or Executive Platinum before the qualification year ends, bonus LPs can meaningfully accelerate your timeline.
Virgin Atlantic Card Targeting with Elevated Bonus
Select cardholders received targeted offers on the Virgin Atlantic credit card with above-standard bonuses. Virgin Flying Club points transfer 1:1 to a handful of partners and have strong sweet spots on ANA business class — one of the most coveted redemptions in points travel. If you got a targeted mailer or email, it's worth evaluating.
Southwest Rapid Rewards Shopping Portal Bonus
Southwest dropped a shopping portal promotion offering elevated Rapid Rewards points through select retailers. Stacking portal bonuses with shopping category rewards is one of the easiest ways to accumulate points without new spend patterns. If you're chasing the Companion Pass — or maintaining status — a portal bonus week is a no-brainer.
Airline & Hotel Deals
Air France FlyingBlue Promo Awards Available
FlyingBlue released a fresh round of monthly Promo Rewards, its monthly sale on partner award redemptions. FlyingBlue Promo awards can cut costs by 25–50% on select routes and cabin classes — typically revealed the first week of each month. Check the current offerings if you have Flying Blue miles sitting around; these rotate quickly and sell out.
Wyndham Hotel Stays Promotion
Wyndham launched a hotel stays promotion offering bonus points on qualifying nights this quarter. Combined with the Chase Wyndham transfer bonus also live this week, the timing is ideal if you're planning any domestic travel that intersects with Wyndham properties (La Quinta, Travelodge, Hawthorn, and more).
Southwest Status Match Program
Southwest rolled out a status match offer targeting flyers with elite status on other airlines. If you hold mid-tier elite status on a legacy carrier, this is an easy way to jump-start Southwest status — which feeds directly toward Companion Pass qualification if timed right with a new card. Details vary by current status tier.
Card Curator Take
The story of the week is unambiguously transfer bonuses. Four of them, all meaningful, and the Rove+JAL deal at 50% is genuinely exceptional — JAL miles are hard to accumulate outside of flying on JAL metal or using Rove, so this kind of gateway moment doesn't come along often. If you have Rove points, move them before March ends.
On the signup bonus front, the Aeroplan Card at 85K is the cleanest "apply if eligible" situation. Aeroplan has quietly become one of the most flexible Star Alliance redemption programs, and 85,000 points is a meaningful opening stake. The Citi AA Business at 75K is a close second for anyone with AAdvantage aspirations heading into summer.
The Robinhood Platinum is worth watching but not acting on yet. Let the early adopters stress-test the credits first — fintech card launches are notoriously optimistic on the benefits side and slower to deliver in practice.
