Program Overview
JetBlue TrueBlue is the loyalty program for JetBlue Airways, a major US low-cost carrier with hubs at JFK, BOS, FLL, and LAX. TrueBlue points are fixed-value with no blackout dates and no expiration as long as the account is active. JetBlue became an Oneworld affiliate in 2023, enabling reciprocal earning and redemption with select partners. Key strengths: no blackout dates or seat restrictions; points never expire; strong transatlantic routes including JFK–London (Heathrow and Gatwick), JFK–Paris, and JFK–Amsterdam with Mint business class; solid domestic East Coast network. Key weaknesses: points have limited sweet spots — value is mostly fixed at ~1¢/point with modest upside; Mint suite redemptions are the best value but capacity-controlled; no major hotel transfer partners. Best for: frequent flyers on the East Coast and transatlantic routes who want simplicity and no blackout dates. TPG values TrueBlue points at 1.35¢ as of February 2026.
Earning Tips
Card earning strategy: JetBlue co-brand cards (Barclays): - JetBlue Card (no AF): 3x on JetBlue, 2x restaurants/groceries, 1x other - JetBlue Plus (annual fee): 6x on JetBlue, 2x restaurants/groceries, 1x other — best for frequent JetBlue flyers - JetBlue Business (annual fee): 6x on JetBlue, 2x office supply/restaurants, 1x other Key tips: - JetBlue Plus and Business cards include a free checked bag on JetBlue flights - Citi ThankYou Points transfer 1:1 to TrueBlue (premium Citi cardholders) - JetBlue Vacations earns bonus TrueBlue points on packages - TrueBlue Dining and Shopping portals stack with card earning
Redemption Tips
TrueBlue redemptions are largely fixed-value — no complex award charts. Best redemptions: - Mint business class to London/Paris: typically 20,000–35,000 points one-way — best value in the program (~2¢/point possible) - Domestic flights: generally 1–1.35¢/point; check sales for better rates - JetBlue Vacations packages: can offer slightly better value than flight-only Avoid: - Gift cards and merchandise: 0.5–0.7¢/point - Pay with points on taxes/fees: poor value - Always compare cash price vs. points cost — if cash price is low, pay cash Booking tips: - No blackout dates — award space mirrors revenue seat availability - Family Pooling enables shared redemptions - Watch JetBlue's frequent fare sales for discounted award pricing
Transfer Strategy
TrueBlue is a destination program — points are earned but not transferred out. Inbound transfers: - Citi ThankYou Points: 1:1 (premium card holders) or 10:7 (non-premium) - No other major bank programs transfer to TrueBlue Strategy: - Points can be pooled with family members (up to 7 people) with Family Pooling - Points do not expire as long as you earn or redeem at least once every 12 months - Citi ThankYou is the primary way to supplement TrueBlue balances via transfers
