Program Overview
Choice Privileges is the loyalty program for Choice Hotels International, covering brands including Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality Inn, Clarion, EconoLodge, Rodeway Inn, Sleep Inn, MainStay Suites, Suburban Studios, WoodSpring Suites, Everhome Suites, and Ascend Collection. Choice has over 7,000 properties primarily in the US, Canada, and Europe. Key strengths: large budget/midscale hotel footprint makes it useful for road trips and domestic travel; fixed-rate award nights at many properties (Category 1–9); transfers accepted from Citi ThankYou at 1:2 ratio (1 TY point = 2 Choice points); Comfort Inn/Suites are excellent value for budget road trips. Key weaknesses: mostly budget and midscale properties; limited luxury inventory; TPG values points at only 0.6¢ each (February 2026); redemption value rarely exceeds 1¢/point. Best for: budget-conscious road travelers and those who stay frequently at Comfort Inn or similar properties. Not a premium hotel program.

Redemption Tips
Choice Privileges redemptions use a fixed category chart (Categories 1–9) with some properties on dynamic pricing. Best value: - Category 1–3 properties: 6,000–10,000 points/night for budget properties that can cost $80–$120/night cash (target 1¢+/point) - Extended stay brands (MainStay, Suburban) often available at lower category rates Avoid high-category redemptions where cash rates are equivalent to the points cost at 0.5¢/point. Points expire after 18 months of inactivity.
